TRAFFICKERS.

The impact of the war in the Ukraine is undoubtedly weighing heavily on each of us, as we endeavour to make our difference to those fleeing their homes, desperate for safety, shelter, warmth, food, medical support and more.

The shocking truth is that where there are vulnerable people, so also are there traffickers. With well-financed networks, and the opportunity to profiteer from the chaos and desperation within refugee camps, traffickers can offer a ticket to safety and already, there are those who have been coerced and deceived into accepting this "help".

Azalea is the first response provider for statutory services in cases of sex trafficking in Herts, Beds and Bucks, and we were involved last week in the case of a young Ukranian girl coming through the airport, with clear evidence that she was being trafficked for the purpose of sexual exploitation. This is unlikely to be an isolated case and we are preparing ourselves for the challenging time ahead.

To support our work, we are taking on the challenge of 100 Miles in May 2022.
